ALTERNATE SHOT: A True Test of Teamwork

Alternate Shot, also known as Foursomes, is a unique golf format that requires players to work closely as a team, sharing the responsibility of playing a single ball. In this game, two players form a team, and they take turns hitting the same ball until it is holed. One player tees off on odd-numbered holes, and the other player tees off on even-numbered holes. The player whose tee shot is used on a hole does not hit the next shot; their partner takes the next shot, and they continue alternating until the ball is holed.

Rules of Alternate Shot:

  1. Teammates: Form a team of two players. Each player will take turns hitting the ball throughout the round.
  2. Tee Shots: On odd-numbered holes (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.), one player tees off. On even-numbered holes (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.), the other player tees off.
  3. Alternate Shots: After the tee shot, players alternate hitting the ball, taking turns playing shots until the ball is holed. The player whose tee shot was not used on a hole plays the second shot, and the alternation continues.
  4. Putting: After reaching the putting green, players continue to alternate shots until the ball is holed.
  5. Rotation: The rotation of tee shots remains the same throughout the round. The player who teed off on the 1st hole will tee off on all odd-numbered holes, and vice versa.
  6. Winning: The team with the lowest total score at the end of the round wins.

Example of Alternate Shot:

Let's say Player A and Player B form a team for a round of Alternate Shot. Here's how they perform on a 3-hole stretch:

  • Hole 1: Player A tees off, Player B hits the second shot, Player A hits the third shot, and so on. They finish the hole in 5 strokes.
  • Hole 2: Player B tees off, Player A hits the second shot, Player B hits the third shot, and so on. They finish the hole in 6 strokes.
  • Hole 3: Player A tees off, Player B hits the second shot, Player A hits the third shot, and so on. They finish the hole in 4 strokes.

At the end of the three holes, their total score is 5 + 6 + 4 = 15.

Alternate Shot requires excellent communication, strategy, and trust between teammates. With GolfLync, finding a partner who complements your strengths becomes seamless, making your golfing experience more enjoyable and engaging.

BEST BALL: Pursue Excellence Together

Best Ball, or Four-Ball, lets you and your partner showcase your best individual skills while working together as a team.

Best Ball, also known as Four-Ball, is a golf format that emphasizes teamwork while allowing players to showcase their individual skills. In this game, two players form a team and play their own balls throughout the round. At the end of each hole, the lower score between the two teammates is recorded as the team's score for that hole. Best Ball can be played as a match play or stroke play format.

Here's how to play:

Rules of Best Ball:

  1. Teammates: Form a team of two players. Each player will play their own ball throughout the round.
  2. Scoring: At the end of each hole, compare the scores of both players on the team. The lower score of the two is the team's score for that hole.
  3. Counting Scores: Only the better score of the two teammates is counted for each hole. If Player A scores a 4 and Player B scores a 5 on a hole, the team's score for that hole is 4.
  4. Tie: In case both players on the team tie with their scores on a hole, neither score is counted. For example, if both players score 4 on a hole, the team's score for that hole is 0.
  5. Winning: The team with the lowest total score at the end of the round wins. This can be in match play or stroke play format.
  6. Variations: Best Ball can be played as a match play or stroke play format. In match play, the team with the lowest score on a hole wins that hole. In stroke play, the team with the lowest total score for the round wins.

Example of Best Ball:

Let's say Player A and Player B form a team for a round of golf. Here's how they perform on a 3-hole stretch:

  • Hole 1: Player A scores 4, Player B scores 5. Team score: 4 (Player A's score)
  • Hole 2: Player A scores 3, Player B scores 6. Team score: 3 (Player A's score)
  • Hole 3: Player A scores 5, Player B scores 4. Team score: 4 (Player B's score)

At the end of the three holes, the team's total score is 4 + 3 + 4 = 11.

Best Ball is a game that encourages collaboration and strategy while allowing each player to contribute their best shots. With GolfLync, finding a compatible partner and coordinating your Best Ball rounds becomes effortless, enhancing your golf experience on and off the course.
